Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored composite resin fillings offer many advantages over the traditional amalgam filling. Aesthetically, a composite filling looks like natural dentition. Dr. Johnson actually tints the composite resin used for the filling so that it blends seamlessly into the damaged tooth. Amalgams are dark silver and stand out against an otherwise natural white smile.

Tooth-colored fillings are strong and solid, and they bond securely with existing dentition, so unlike amalgams, they won't become misshapen or loosen, and they can't leak. Composite resin contains no mercury, a heavy metal found in amalgams and the source of much controversy in recent years.
