Porcelain Crowns
These days, you don't have to give up your all-white smile for corrective dental procedures, like crowns and fillings. Drs. Edward and Katelin use tooth-colored restorations, instead of metal, to restore oral health and strength. If you have a chipped, broken, or extensively damaged tooth, we may recommend an all-porcelain or porcelain-fused-to-metal crown.
A crown, also called a cap, is a custom-made restoration that fits over the exposed portion of a tooth to return beauty, durability, and function. After your diagnosis, Dr. Johnson will prepare your tooth and take an impression for the dental lab. You'll wear a temporary crown until your second appointment. The dental lab will custom make your white crown and deliver it to our office. When you come in for placement, Dr. Johnson will remove your temporary, permanently attach your final restoration, and make sure that your teeth come together properly and comfortably.
Dental Bridges
To replace one tooth or a few teeth in a row, Dr. Johnson may recommend a dental bridge. This traditional prosthetic consists of one or more teeth held in place by crowned teeth on either side (abutment crowns). A dental bridge is irremovable, so it won't slip out of place like a partial.
When you visit, Dr. Johnson will make sure that you're a candidate for a dental bridge, then explain the entire process so that you understand what to expect. You'll come in for an initial visit so that we can take an impression and, if you prefer, get a temporary bridge placed. After the lab creates your custom bridge, you'll visit us again for permanent placement.
